Adults’ Frequently Asked Questions

What do I say to my kid about coming to see you?

You can tell them I’m a person who talks to kids about their thoughts and feelings. They can talk to me or they can choose not too. There’s no right or wrong way to be. They’re in charge of how we spend our time together. As we get to know one another and build trust, we can come up with a way to work together toward our shared goals.

What if my teen won't talk to you?

Attending therapy is a very vulnerable experience, for you and your teen! If they aren’t comfortable talking that’s ok. We will work together to see if we can build trust and safety. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to be in therapy. Even if they’re not talking, they are still experiencing relationship, practicing moving outside of their comfort zone, and trying something new!

If it turns out I’m not the right fit for your teen, (maybe there’s too many plants, or not enough plants?) Then we will work together to find another provider who might better suit their needs.

Do you bill insurance? Is a “Super bill” a real thing?

I am in network with Regence and do not bill out of network. You will receive a “Super Bill” at the end of the month that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. And yes,  a “Super Bill” is a real thing! It’s an invoice that provides the correct coding for insurance reimbursement.

Can we (the parents/caregivers) meet with you?

Absolutely! You are the experts on your kid. You can teach me about them and I can teach you about child development and mental health. Together we can come up with a plan to support you both.
